The new dawn rises over the troubled kingdom of Morwindl. Darkness Fell, and took favored heroes with it. Tainted by the Spear of Power, these influential people rose to power and now dominate the political landscape of the north west portion of the island. But, as with all things, the Tide ever cycles, and new heroes Rise to combat evil.
The drums of war beat, the empire sends its army north to quell Verity’s rebellion, while the fledgling kingdom desperately tries to raise an army of its own. The people of the land try to forget about Vecna nearly breaking out of his prison, and the remaining powerful artifact sundered, but untamed. And surrounded by it all, six unlikely friends try find their place in the world. Was Ulrich the one foretold, or, perhaps, is there another?
And so it shall come to pass that which men have made shall be shattered. The Shadow shall lie across the whole of the land and the dark one shall once more lay his hand upon the world of man. Women shall weep and men quake as the nations of the earth are rent like rotting cloth. Neither shall anything stand nor abide.
Yet one shall be born to face the Shadow; the dragon shall be reborn, and they will bear the mark of the serpent. The people of the earth shall be clothed in burlap and ash, and the dragon shall tear apart all ties that bind.
Like the unfettered dawn shall the dragon blind us, and burn us, yet shall they confront the Shadow, and their blood shall give us light. Let your tears flow, oh people, and weep for your salvation.
Could one of them be the dragon foretold, or have they come and gone and the world is doomed? Can they recover the shattered artifact and use it seal Vecna’s damaged prison?

About the campaign:

This a homebrew sandbox setting I began in 2011 when my friends asked me to do a little DMing for our group. Morwindl has grown far beyond what my initial intentions with it were. I have learned a ton, I have taught some, and a few of my good friends have gotten to spend some time around my table as I muddled my way through learning the craft. I very much appreciate the patience of my friends over these years while I did so – thank you!
Currently in season two, they are working their way through the Lost Mine of Phandelver, which I’ll follow with the Red Hand of Doom (which I’m still converting for 5e and my setting), but shhh, they don’t know that. I haven’t quite settled on what to finish out the season with, but I may stop after the climax of RHoD.

Morwindl | Rising Tide Comments
Bortas, you are correct.
PS – I’ve been busy, come see – https://amanifestationofchaosextinctionevent.obsidianportal.com/wiki_pages/main-wiki, would love to hear your thoughts.
Wow, thanks Leonidas! I’d wager virtually all of the pieces you like are centered around making use of the ‘hover’ tag.
Been a fan for a long time but man you got some slick tricks going on with your page man. There is some stuff I may, “imitate” should I ever learn how…
Thanks you two; site wouldn’t be what it is without community members like you!
Brilliant art work, spinning circles and moving sword cursors! Is it any wonder the Campaign of the Year goes to Morwindl? Congratulations!

Congratulations to you and your players for the very well-deserved Campaign of the Year for 2018!
No worries at all – I wish I had enough characters to be able to include appropriate spacing and comments, but OP limits the amount of characters, and the choice between moar style or more coding comments, I went with more style.
OK, I won’t lie, I am stealing a lot more than I was originally hoping for. My plan is to steal and dissect and make my own (currently, I am in the process of stealing and dissecting so pieces of my side look a little too much as your own so please don’t judge).
Thanks Sulbime! Steal away, that’s how I got to where I did! :-)
I really dig your site and will not lie that I am envious of it. Currently going through the ropes of learning some of the basics so that when my group returns to D&D (currently playing Star Wars Edge of the Empire until Summer) I can give them something better than our Star Wars site to utilize. Looked at your source code and man, am I WAY over my head (I did steal your parchment from the Forums though).
Wow twigs, I don’t know what to say, except thank you!
Fantastic interview and congratulations to Bortas and Crew for winning CotM July 2018! It was great to get the stories of the other players as to how they had come into the world of Table Top roleplaying, and the insights of Bortas throughout were inspirational, as were the pictures. A well deserved win for a campaign overlooked for far too long.
I loved the images you sent in of the various game sessions. Great miniature and dungeon building props. I also had a new look through the site and there have been many aesthetic improvements since I last visited. My favourite is the spinning circlet around the enlarging picture disc on the player characters. It may be a bit gimmicky, but it is still utterly stunning.
I am so glad you and your players seem to be having such a great time.

Cool, thanks KVP – I like the effect most on the character index page. I’d like to do a fancier version for the player section on the main page, but I can’t even wrap my head around how to do the CSS for what I want. So… I’m kinda stalled on that.
Love the new expanding boxes!
Thanks KVP! Trying hard to make it feel…. not symmetrical, boxy.
Love the new look!!
I know that feeling exactly, here is the link: https://morwindl.obsidianportal.com/themes/custom_css.css?cc=1517024093 and happy to discuss specifics, if you aren’t able to follow my ramblings.
Looking great there Bortas. Gonna have to bug ya for some CSS code for thing sI want to ‘Borrow’ :)
I also really love the pics you have put of recent terrain building in the Forums. All is looking mighty fine in the Morwindl camp!

Aww, thanks Twigs! Those are some great compliments. Our group has worked pretty hard to bring this imagined realm to life.
Hey Bortas, let me start by saying that I really love the way that Morwindl is spelt (with no “e”). The artwork throughout is great and I love the wee POST IT note on the front page – I presume this changes as the game progresses. The sword cursor is groovy! (Can we still use that word? Sorry, I am oldskool!)
I love the way your pictures enlarge themselves on HOVER. Scroll-style adventure logs are aesthetically cool with good pictures and wiki is very cool with killer maps. All in all, I would hazard a guess that life on the Island of Morwindl is a top notch experience!

Yea, I tend to be the same with a lot of things, even though I might struggle with it a bit more that way I can mark it off as my own accomplishment. Either way, your page has come leaps and bounds in my time watching it, love visiting – great job!
Awesome gesture, thank you! I prefer to learn it myself, counting myself slightly wiser – it always comes up that I have to make similar edits to other graphics anyway :-)
I could ask my wife to take a look at that for you, we have Photoshop (for our side company) and she does graphical design. If you give me a direct idea of what the desired result is I can have her take a stab at it.
Thanks! It’s a much clearer picture, and I like that it isn’t quite square. I need to soften the edges some, but I’m certainly no photoshop expert.
Really like the banner update, looks very nice!
Thanks! Your idea, your code…. but I decided a ‘parchment’ sticky note would be a nice looking pun ;-)
I’m spending a lot of time on the wiki, trying to make it look less dry. Check out the ‘cities’ later today, putting the time in on that right now.
I like the adaptation of the pinned note – the page is really coming together, you have done a fantastic job!
Indeed, but the players don’t know… shh ;-)
Like the banner, did you go in on the Caverns?
